What Are Quilters Blogging About Today?

My sister and I occasionally take on “Sister Projects” together. It’s seriously fun to have a sister close who quilts! She didn’t start quilting in earnest until 2001, but it’s as if she’s been quilting with me all along. I used to quilt with our grandmother, and Katy took up quilting a few months after we lost Grandma, so now I can quilt with her. It keeps us connected quite nicely!

It’s once again Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Last year, I participated in Moda’s Stitch Pink Quilt-Along, and made this quilt (which I still don’t have quilted yet):

Moda is hosting Stitch Pink again this year, altho this year it begins on October 15th and runs for two weeks. I’m a little slow at it. It’s super difficult for me to cut anything. I ordered one of those ergonomic rotary cutters from Martelli, and it helps a lot, but even then, I can only use it for a tiny amount of time. I’m calling it part of my therapy, because getting back to doing the things I ...

Let’s get right to it . . .

CUTTING:
The instructions are for cutting ONE block only. This way it’s a lot easier for you to make the blocks scrappy.

For ONE block:

From background, cut:
(3) 2″ squares — Draw a diagonal line on the back of two of these squares; cut the third square in half diagonally to make 2 triangles.
(1) 1 1/2″ square

From a print (or multiple prints), cut:
(2) 2″ squares ...

In conjunction with the Brunswick Forest BOM, I’m hosting a quick little Quilt-along for those darling Maple Leaf blocks! They were so fun to make, I didn’t get enough the first time around while making the fall version of the quilt, and I want to do more. I want you to join me!

As you probably know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Last year, on October 18th, I lost one of my closest, dearest friends to breast cancer. I miss her every day.
